Concepts Unveil the “Orion’s Belt” Nike Kyrie 5

While we’re right on the verge of seeing his sixth signature sneaker hit retailers, Kyrie Irving’s fifth is still punching on – and perhaps they’re saving the best till last. The “Orion’s Belt” Concepts x Nike Kyrie 5 continues the Brooklyn Net’s partnership with the retailer. It is the second installment of Egyptian-themed collaborations between the brands, inspired by Irving’s deep fascination with ancient Egyptian culture, the mysterious construction of the pyramids, and their connection to the solar system.

Referenced in the “Orion’s Belt” design, is the theory that the constellation aligns perfectly with all three Pyramids of Giza, which along with The Great Sphinx, were believed to be submerged in water at one point. The pyramids on the sneaker’s shroud are in accordance with the actual size and order, while the constellation sits above, on the tongue. The shades along the swoosh and heel-counter represent where the water levels would have receded over time.

The Concepts x Nike KYRIE 5 “Orion’s Belt” launches on Saturday, October 26, 2019, at Concepts NYC (225 Hudson Street) and CNCPTS.COM at 11:00 AM (EST). Sizes 7-12, 13, 14, 15 will be available for $140, complete with exclusive Concepts packaging.
