Often touted as the world’s finest fabricators — by streetwear whores at least — GORE-TEX are no strangers to the sneaker world. Their textiles have tailored many footwear options from Timberlands to Chucks and the iconic Air Force 1. Now the manufacturer-come-streetwear stalwart return to the latter for Fall, with a collaborative GORE-TEX x Nike Air Force 1 capsule. The pack is expected to be chock-full of Air Force 1 Lows, previewed further below in a seasonal olive and gum — with at least three more colorways on the way — but the collection is championed by the winterized GORE-TEX x Nike Air Force 1 WNTR — a part of Nike’s new utilitarian THE10TH range.
The Lows features heavy-duty ballistic mesh underlays and tongues, slightly tumbled leather overlays co-branded tongue tags. Bold profile GORE-TEX branding rises above the traditional sole unit’s Air Branding, of which arrives in a classic gum. The first up pair arrives in olive, but we’ve seen red and yellow surface previously, so expect a handful more colorways to surface soon. As for the Air Force 1 WNTR, it arrives completely retooled for the harsh year-end weather, with a deconstructed aesthetic that’s so in vogue. High top, zip-up ripstop inner bootie rises above the low-cut leather base — and peers through the vacant mid-panel — offering water resistance for your feet. It arrives on the classic winterized Air Force 1 tread underfoot, but in an atypical icy-translucent finish that matches the tacked-on oversize profile Swoosh, and the pairs comes complete with rugged heel pulls and overlays, and bold “THE10TH” and “GORE-TEX” branding hits on the lateral sides and insoles.
A release date for both pairs are still to be announced by the Swoosh, but with the wet season not too far away, you can expect pairs to start rolling out on Nike.com over the coming weeks. For updates, keep your eyes locked on our Nike News Feed and our dedicated Nike Release Dates Calendar.
