The Harlem Fashion Row x Nike LeBron 16 “Harlem Stage” Releases May 10th

Outta nowhere!

LeBron James has cemented his position as one of the best basketball players to ever play the game — but that has never been enough for the Akron native. James has always strived to be more than just a basketball player. He has made an impact in the community by emphasizing education and using his powerful platform to empower those around him, hell, he even built his own damn school.

So with the King having a propensity to aiding education for the black community, it’s really no surprise that he teamed up with Harlem Fashion Row earlier this year for the launch of his sixteenth signature sneaker. The New York City-based fashion collective was created in 2007 to showcase the work of multicultural designers, particularly from women who are impacting the community. The collaboration between James and Harlem Fashion Row was natural: Take two voices devoted to empowering others and combine them to create a shoe that honors the strength of African-American women everywhere. The result is the HFR x LeBron 16, the first LeBron signature shoe to be reimagined by female designers.

Now, almost a year later, Nike, LeBron, and HFR will be releasing a second colorway of their esteemed 3D-lion heeled design, this time sporting a more vibrant mix of color. Compared to the original — aside from the bold yellow Battleknit upper, matching strap and red liner — this isn’t too different from their first effort. It too sports a bone-colored tongue, lacing system, and 3D Lion heel overlay, as well as a similar sail mid and outsole. The midfoot hardware has been changed from gold to black, and the collar buckle from gold to silver. and the midsole carbon fiber from gold to grey. These official images really came out of nowhere, so when it comes to a release date, your guess is as good as ours at this stage. But when more details land, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
