UPDATE 10.08.25 An "Eggplant"-reminiscent pair of the original Nike Air Flightposite is still expected to launch during the Holiday 2025, but it won't seem to feature details that connect it with Jason Kidd's Player-Exclusive (PE) from 2000.

Instagram user @prm.cotd just shared a first-look at what's expected to launch before the end of the year. The pair doesn't include a proper purple upper, making the "Eggplant" association questionable. Furthermore, zippered shrouds and sole units opt for a "Midnight Navy" makeup instead of "Black" as is typically seen on "Eggplant" styles. It seems the pair is a faithful reissue of a 2008 House of Hoops by Foot Locker-exclusive.

    Stay tuned for more details.

ORIGINAL STORY Nike Basketball's current performance lineup has taken over both the NBA and WNBA. On the retro front, the hoops-focused division continues to sell out product, repackaging nostalgia from the late 1990s and 2000s in forms true to the original. Next up, the Swoosh will retro Jason Kidd's "Eggplant" Air Flightposite Player-Exclusive (PE) from 25 years ago, as revelaed today on the Nike SNKRS Showcase.

The news arrives after a recent reissue run of both the Air Foamposite One and Air Flightposite. Both Nike Basketball offerings harken back to a time when footwear for the hardwood was entering a new era, abandoning the traditional leather builds of the 1980s and earlier. As one of the more exciting forces in the NBA around the time of release, Kidd received his fair share of exclusive Flightposites from the Swoosh conglomerate. He also rocked special editions from the Shox franchise.

The pair, returning by the end of the year, was last seen in 2008 as a House of Hoops by Foot Locker-exclusive. However, it debuted on the hardwood during the 2000 NBA All-Star Game in Oakland, Calif. as Kidd represented the Western Conference in a tough victory.

While reminiscent of the inline Flightposite "Eggplant," Kidd's 25-year-old PE features his name on the heel pull tab and 32 jersey number on the zippered-upper's fold-over tongue. The remainder of the pair resembles the beloved purple makeover that's appeared on several beetle-inspired designs from the Nike Basketball team.

Specifics about which components from the PE will return in the next retail launch have yet to be disclosed by the brand, but that's expected to change throughout fall.

The shoes should hit Nike.com in November for $240.
