LeBron James will play his 24th NBA season between Oct. 10, 2026 and April 11, 2027. Although much attention is being placed on the four-time champion's latest signature model, it seems Nike Basketball will continue to retro older models like the Air Zoom Generation as "King James" hunts down his fifth NBA title.
During the Ohio-native's initial run with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Swoosh put together a number of Player-Exclusive (P.E.) pairs for the young phenom. One of the pairs previewed 20 years ago includes a Nike Air Zoom Generation (often thought of as the Nike LeBron 1) covered in a "Black/Gold/Red" color scheme inspired by Hummer's H2 model from the era (James famously got a pewter-colored H2 for his 18th birthday).
Although the sneaker never saw a retail launch, pairs have sporadically appeared on the after-market over the years. The full leather, textured upper nods to the rugged vehicle while reflecting the elevated nature of Player-Exclusives. Golden accents appear on and along the tongue, as well as the profiles, and sole unit. A contrasting, reflective window lands on the heel—complete with a "Peel Off" sticker à la Air Jordan 17 from 2002.
A sneaker industry insider tells House of Heat° that the mythical P.E. will finally see a public release during Summer 2027. The pair will be clad in a "Black/Metallic Gold/Varsity Crimson" color palette.
