Neymar’s Two Nike Air Max 2090s Tribute His Past and Present Life

After linking up on a series on Nike Shox, Brazilian and PSG football superstar Neymar will revisit his collaborative series with Nike, this time delivering to retooled renditions of the new Air Max 2090.

One arrives decked out in a black, gold, and Bordeaux mix — likely a tribute to PSG’s recently-leaked away kits for 2020-21 — with the other arriving in a color-popped beige and light gum option — a possible reference to the colorful neighborhoods from his upbringing in Portuguesa. Translucent textile uppers are replaced with nubuck, suede, and leather, with the construction allowing for the addition of 3M reflective eyelet overlays and toe caps, as well as suede toe boxes and collars. Sitting just below the disjointed Swoosh motifs are perforated profile mudguards which reveal further 3M reflective paneling beneath, while the rest of the sneaker’s construction appears to be unchanged. Each pair comes peppered with callouts to Neymar’s life, including “Praia Grande” (Big Beach) — the municipality in which Sao Vincente, Neymar’s hometown, resides. Nautica III is, in fact, referring to his childhood barrio (neighborhood), whilst finally, Jardim Gloria on the instep eyelet is a reference to the home of his football institute in Brazil. Capping off the design are Neymar Jr branding on the insoles, and a pull-out and interchangeable heel clip that also dons the star’s motif.

Both pairs of Neymar’s Air Max 2090 will be arriving throughout Asia on June 2nd, but a Stateside release is yet to be confirmed. So while we wait on more information, take in an official look at both pairs here below, and keep your eyes locked on our official Twitter account for further updates.
