Though customization has long been an aspect of wider sneaker culture, only recently have brands jumped on the bandwagon with options that enable the wearer to tweak, tear, color, or wear-away the sneaker to their liking. The earliest (and easiest) form of this has always been Velcro, with interchangeable tongue tags or Checks being the primary movers. Recently, Nike has given fans of the Air Force 1 a little more freedom in this realm, giving you the option to stick-on or rip-off entire panels in addition to the aforementioned on the recently-introduced Nike AF 1/1, enabling one to remove or add toe boxes, mid panels, quarters, Swooshes, heel overlays, and tongue tags. Now, after debuting in a handful of solid-blocked options, Nike will introduce some pattern work — and what better place to start than the revered “Animal Pack” prints.
Rocking with a bevy of Zebra, Tiger, and Cheetah prints across each panel, the pair is set in earthy olives and browns, with signature pops of highlighter hues — here in Volt — at the Swoosh, tongue. tags, rear branding, and dubraes. though not pictured, the pair also arrives with orange Checks and lace sets, with a bevy of interchangeable patches, too. Underfoot you’ll find a staple white and gum sole unit to complete the design.
A Stateside release for the Nike AF 1/1 “Animal Pack” is yet to be set, but with pairs already available in Asia (and subsequently, here now on eBay), you can expect to see a US drop soon. Until then, enjoy a detailed look at the pair here below, and be sure to keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.
