Sunsektsnkrs has given a closer look at one of the rarest Off-White creations to ever surface: the unreleased “Over Lace” Air Force 1 sample.
This pair is unlike any of Virgil Abloh’s previously released Off-White x Nike collaborations, featuring unique layered lace details across a vibrant University Blue leather upper. The familiar exposed stitching, metallic silver Swoosh, and bold black sole stamped with “AIR” branding add to its distinctive look. As a sample, the sneaker carries all of Abloh’s hallmarks but remains a one-of-a-kind rarity never intended for a wide release.
According to Sunsektsnkrs, pairs of the “Over Lace” sample have fetched upwards of $50,000 in private sales, cementing its status as one of the most unattainable Off-White sneakers to date. With Virgil’s passing in 2021, collectors continue to place immense value on unreleased and sample pairs, seeing them as pieces of history that embody his boundary-pushing design ethos.
While the Off-White x Nike partnership delivered some of the most impactful sneakers of the last decade, this sample reinforces just how selective Abloh was in curating what actually made it to retail. For most, glimpses like these are the closest they’ll ever get to such rarities—reminders of just how far-reaching Virgil’s vision still is.
For more on Off-White x Nike, the "Sesame" Air Force 1 collab is releasing soon.
