Nike Just Dropped an Almost-OG Air Flight 89 Colorway
Originally released in 1989 as the Nike Air Flight (’89 was added to their name upon their first retro release,) the pair rose to popularity on both the hardwood and the streets, seen on the feet of notable cultural figures like Scottie Pippen to Eazy-E. And, after retail runs in 2012 and 2015, Nike has brought back the silhouette for another round of releases in colorways both new and old. In September we saw a retro of the OG White/Red rendition, along with two new takes, and now a third new — yet-almost OG — colorway has arrived. The new black-based pair pulls strong influence from the OG Black/Cement pair seen just below, but swaps out the light grey for white, and adds in white piping to the forefoot lacestay overlay, a full-length white midsole and white liners.
2019’s Black/White Air Flight 89 very closely resembles this OG Black/Cement colorway.
Not much of a difference, but more than enough to piss off some OG heads — but OG or not, you can’t deny how clean this came out. if you love ’em — or fancy a quick custom job for that OG look — you can pick up your pairs right now, right here on Nike.com for $120.
