Over the years, Nike has made a concerted effort to create fictional clubs, teams, and even people. The Roswell Rayguns are arguably the most famous, but we’ve also seen made-up running and training clubs over the years. Now it looks to a new-yet-old concept — the Nike Athletic Club — which puts its roots firmly in the 1970s and 80’s era of community gymnasiums. First, we revealed a retooled Nike Blazer Mid, now it’s this, the first of two Nike Air Force 1 “Athletic Club” releases for the themed collection.
The release captures the essence of an old-school rec club through heritage branding at the tongue and insole, throwback patches at the heel, and aged-look sole units — the pair even comes with a matchbook-style pin pack that you’d have been gifted by the complex for your post-game Marlboro. Color-wise, the pair settles on silver, grey, and bone, with nylon and suede the key contributed. There are cool details like double-layered Checks, AIR FORCE indentation at the ankle, and retro-striped laces completing the design.
Official images of the Nike Air Force 1 “Athletic Club” have arrived, though a release date has not yet been set. While we await further details, grab a detailed look at the pair here below, and be sure to keep our eyes glued to our official Twitter accountfor further updates on its release
