39 years after its inception, Bruce Kilgore would never have imagined the impact that his Air Force 1 would have on footwear. Surely that will be celebrated in a big way come 2022 for the design’s 40th anniversary, but for the best part of two decades, the silhouette has shown that it can adapt to modern trends through color, material, collaboration, and even reformation. The latter has been the move for the past few years, with everything from Pixelated pairs to deconstructed designs flooding shelves. Theis brand-new Nike Air Force 1 Fontanka fits somewhere in-between with offset, glitched outsoles, and overlays, while deconstructed values like fly-away eyestays, rolling stitchwork, and double tongues tackle the trend. Keeping with Nike’s continual upgrading, the pair is also fitted with React cushioning, hence the pair’s lack of Air branding.
The next colorway to appear is this pink pair popped with red, with smooth leather the key ingredient. Subtle pink suede works its way into the Swooshes, eyestay underlays, and heel, while double tongues opt for more traditional nylon. Three Swooshes replace the aforementioned Air branding at the tongue, rear panels are left blank, and a stick-on React panel in punchy red where the signature midsole AIR lettering once resided.
An official Nike.com release for the Nike Air Force 1 Fontanka is yet to be revealed, but it’s likely that, given the colorway, the pair will arrive for the late Spring/Summer seasons. Until then, you can enjoy a first look at the GS-sized pair here below, and keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.
