Over the years, Nike has made a concerted effort to create fictional clubs, teams, and even people. The Roswell Rayguns are arguably the most famous, but we’ve also seen made-up running and training clubs over the years. Now it looks to a new-yet-old concept — the Nike Athletic Club — which puts its roots firmly in the 1970s and 80’s era of community gymnasiums. First, we revealed a retooled Nike Blazer Mid followed a handful of Uptowns— but now it’s time to rejoin the join the gym, with this all-new Nike Air Force 1 “Athletic Club” coming up in grey duds.
The release captures the essence of an old-school rec club through heritage coloration, throwback patches at the heel, and vintage branding, but nothing says athletics quite like the ol’ marl grey tracksuit — a finish seen here on the liners and insoles. There’s more grey on the exterior, though it’s suede, and it sits atop a pure white leather base. Swooshes, like the heel overlays, are tacked on in teal, with a two-color sole unit and retro tricolor branding completing the design.
After first revealing itself in kids sizing, official images of this Nike Air Force 1 “Athletic Club” have arrived in adults sizing. A release date has not yet been set.
