Nike’s Air Force 1 Low Celebrate’s Mexicos “Day of The Dead” Festival
The creepiest-yet-most colorful holiday in the entire world, Mexico’s Día de Muertos — the Day of the Dead — is famous the world over. It’s as spooky as it is spectacular, with nationals and tourists honoring the deceased in vibrant costume and sugar skull makeup every November — and now Nike will be joining the festivities, with a special-edition “Day of the Dead” Air Force 1 Low
From first impressions, the white-based, colorfully-piped Air Force 1 is seemingly too simple for the festival that is chock-full of colors, patterns, and prints, but a closer inspection reveals subtle papel picado-like designs featuring traditional calaveras (skull) motifs and patterns on the Toe, Swoosh and heel panels. An enlarged papel picado print graces the insoles to further link the sneaker to Mexico’s national holiday, and the pair comes complete with black accents at the liner, Swoosh and contrast sole stitching.
With Mexico’s national holiday approaching on November 2nd — and Halloween right around the corner, too — you can expect these spooky sneaks to surface at select Swoosh stockists and Nike.com over the coming weeks. Be sure to keep your eyes on our dedicated Nike Release Dates Calendar for updates on the drop.
Update 09.24.19 US retailers Finish Line has the release of the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Day of the Dead” pegged for October 15th. The pair will also arrive alongside an accompanying Day of the Dead Air Max 95, although the date cannot be confirmed at this stage. Stay tuned for more updates!Nike Air Force 1 Low “Day Of The Dead”
