Colorful Coqui Cover Nike’s Annual Puerto Rican Day Air Force 1 Low 🇵🇷
Gotta cop them Coquis! 🐸
Held on the second Sunday every June, the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade celebrates the nearly four million inhabitants of Puerto Rico and all people of Puerto Rican birth or heritage residing on the U.S. mainland. A big part of the day for Sneakerheads is Nike’s annual PR-Day Air Force 1 Lowdrop, and now we have our first official look at the pair — a colorful Coqui-themed offering
Icy outsoles return to the Uptown, which lays the foundation for a classic all-white tumbled leather base. The mid and rear panels have been painted in colorful line art, depicting a handful of Coqui, representing several species of free-toed (webless) frogs native to Puerto Rico. Cartoon frogs sit upon the Nike Air-branded insole, while blue and red “PR” branding on the tongues and heel replace the traditional “AIR” lettering. Completing the design is frog-skin textured Swooshes to bring the theme full-circle.
