Over the years, Nike has found inspiration for its releases from far and wide. More recently, the Swoosh has sought out rock and roll thematic to fill their releases, from the “Cleveland Rocks” Nike Blazers to Concepts’ epic festival-themed Air Max 1s. The theme has also worked its way onto a series of NSW classics, including the Air Max 97 and Air Force 1. Now the collection will add another uptown — this one sustainable in nature.
Anchored in a like tonal off-white burlap and faux suede scheme, the pair marries up to the accompanying Uptown perfectly — it even includes near-identical gold chain stitched Swooshes. Though colors and materials do vary, namely, the textile mid panels and Grind Rubber-peppered sole units that give off a grey-ish hue, the pair does harness the collection’s obsession with muted red and gold, with tongues, embroidered branding, and insoles all dressed in the shared scheme. Here, though, whimsical motifs and “JUST DO IT” embroidery is absent, instead, focusing solely on the aforementioned Swoosh and Move to Zero Pinwheels, removing it further from the rocked-out themes seen previously. Alas, the pair still brings a similar DIY charm and is a worthty inclusion in what is growing to be quite an extensive collection.
