Just Dropped // Nike Air Huarache “Escape 2.0”

Though the original 1988 releases are barely spoken about, the Nike Escape has gone on to influence a ton of Swoosh releases, including the famed 2005 “Escape” Collection of Air Forces, and 2003’s Nike Air Huarache. Now, after the latter re-released earlier this year in its green and tan duds, a second edition Nike Air Huarache “Escape 2.0” appears, this one more aligned with the aforementioned Air Force 1/2 pack from 2005 (and the OG pictured below, of course!)

OG 1988 Nike Escape

Capturing the essence of the above OG from ’88, the 2021 Nike Air Huarache “Escape 2.0” aims to channel the pair — in color at least — with the famed white, brown, black and red schematic transferred to Tinker’s iconic trainer. Here, though, both its blocking and material make differs, but it’s easy to see the inspiration. Black neoprene booties and vamp panels make up a fair chunk of the pair, with piecing whites served up in equal measures at the toe box, midsole, and tongue tag. There are further hits of black at the rear caging and outsoles, too, the former joining the tongue with striking University Red branding hits. Lastly, the Escape’s signature “Bison” brown covers the forefoot in suede, and the pair is completed by special graphic insoles that read “Escape” in both Chinese and Japanese – a finish also seen on the aforementioned 2003 release of the same name.

Though a release date did not accompany the official image set below, you should expect to see pairs of this Nike Air Huarache “Escape 2.0” hit select retailers soon.
