Nike Air Huarache HL Highlights a Retro Print Campaign

Currently celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Nike Air Huarache will not only be paying tribute to its past through OG and special-edition reissues, but it will also be looking at the sneaker’s initial advertising campaigns for inspiration — or in this instance, decoration.

The famed Tinker Hatfield design dropped back in 1991 alongside the famous print ad asking us ‘Have you hugged your foot today?’. The campaign not only addressed the glove-like neoprene inners that latched onto your feet like nothing else but also highlighted the pair’s ultra-comfort Air system, because your feet need love, too.

The campaign has stuck ever since, and remains a go-to embellishment for the sneaker’s special-edition releases. Here, it features underfoot, legible only through the translucent outsole. Everything else arrives mostly in black, with neoprene, mesh, and caging all featuring a black hue, while its heavily tumbled leather overlays chill out in a fake slate grey. Rear pulls are smoky-translucent in its finish, while OG nylon tags return above lightly-detailed lace sets to complete the design.
