The Nike Air Max 90 made waves when it was launched 30 years ago, and still, to this day, it’s one of Nike’s biggest sellers, proving the shoe was years ahead of its time — but what else would you expect it to be when designed by the one and only Tinker Hatfield? So with such a significant sneaker celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2020, Nike not only decided to honor the sneaker with a heavy run of retro releases, but also in crafting an entirely new silhouette that encompasses the sneaker heritage as well as the brand’s current futuristic design ethos. The result is the Nike Air Max 2090. Now, after a stellar debut on Air Max Day, the new silhouette again looks to the brand’s heritage for inspiration, arriving in this classic “Miami Nights” colorway.

These after-dark duds have hit countless silhouettes over the years, with the SoFlo nightlife serving as the inspiration. Vibrant South Beach flavors of pink, blue, and neon green pop off against the sneaker’s black accents. Translucent overlays up top show an upper split between white and black, the latter covering the heel and toe, while heavy-set blacks ride the mudguard, tongues, liners, and Air cassette. Pink lacestays are complimented by surrounding stitching in blue and volt, with more colorful pops hitting the heel pulls and branding hits. Completing the design is a brushed pink midsole, black rubber outsole, and vivid volt insoles
