The Nike Air Max 270 Reactis looking no further than it’s own family tree for inspiration, with this new colorway of the hybrid React-Air Max silhouette paying tribute to the original Air Max 1 from 1987.
Arguably Tinker Hatfield’s greatest accomplishment, the Air Max 1 was the first sneaker to expose Nike’s Air technology in the midsole. At the time — and well into the 1990s — having that visible “bubble” became all the rage. The OG Air Max not only restored Nike‘s running division to top-dog status, but it also birthed a wave of lifelong fans. It’s been celebrated too many times to count, most recently on the Nike Huarache DNA and Air Max 1 “Sketch to Shelf” packs — and now it’s time for Nike’s newest Air Max to join in the party.
It arrives in an instantly recognizable palate of white and red, paired with natural suedes and black rubber sole units. The vamp comes covered in grey, a-la the OG, while toe boxes, mid panels, and tongues all come constructed in a vintage-styled mesh. Completing the design is a classic white midsole, fully-translucent Air Max unit, and Air Max 1-inspired tongue tags.
