The Next Air Max 90 “Exeter Edition” Exudes an Early-90’s Aura
Nike’s well-documented focus on sustainability has lead to an abundance of eco-friendly footwear options over the past 12 months, most of which are instantly recognizable by a handful of shared characteristics. Most famously of the lot is Nike’s color-flecked grind rubber sole units which have featured prominently on a slew of Nike classics, including the recent series dubbed the “Exeter Edition” — a collection inspired by Swoosh employee Jeff Johnson’s 1974 trip to New Hampshire that sprouted the brand’s first recycled shoes. Now after appearing in an Air Max 90 and a VaporMax 3, the series returns to the former with a very 90s-inspired palette.
Arriving clad in vibrant pink, teal, purple, volt, black, and grey — and with both contrast stitching and flecked Air cassettes — the pair oozes an aura of the early 90s era. The sustainable materials are just as evident, too, with pink textile uppers and recycled overlays working with the famous grind rubbers underfoot to forge a sneaker that’s as stylish as it is sustainable.
