Nike is leaving no theme unexplored when it comes to the Air Max 90 in this, it’s 30th anniversary year, from OG-inspired releases to throwback themes — and even a metallic gold-iridescent snakeskin edition. Now the brand looks to call upon one of it’s most recurrent brand thematics for this special-edition “Galaxy” Air Max 90.

Made famous by the infamous All-Star weekend Nike Air Foamposite One back from 2012, the intergalactic aesthetic has graced countless silhouettes over the past eight years without ever managing to lose its cachet. This year alone we’ve seen the theme hit a Nike React Presto and a trio of upcoming Nike Hoops releases, and now it graces the revered Air Max 90. Here, galaxy-inspired prints grace the ripstop uppers and tongues, with the theme continuing onto the insoles and flecked black Air cassette. Further premium upgrades include textured leather overlays, safari-like mudguards, and space-age chrome Swooshes and tongue tags — all of which are stitched-in with color contrast stitching. Eyelets, branding segments, and sole units arrive in a trio of Infrared, Aqua and White, and the pair is complete with a special flight-inspired pull tag, and a Tron-like redesign on the tongue.

Take in a first look at the “Galaxy” Nike Air Max 90 here below, and expect these special-edition Air Max 90s to arrive at select Swoosh stockists and Nike.com in the coming weeks.
