Nike Air Max 90 “History of Air” Honors Retro Trainers

Aside from the transcendent Air Jordanlineage, there’s no other series of sneakers with a more storied past than Nike’s Air Max. Some would even argue that the line is significantly more influential on all of footwear — which leads us to this upcoming Nike Air Max 90 “History of Air.” Not only does this release arrive in time to honor the Air Max 3’s 30th anniversary, but it also incorporates elements and colorways of classic silhouettes from the Air Max series.

Starting chronologically, the Air Max 1 and 90 are honored by-way-of both white mesh upper and at the sole unit, as is the Air Max 180 at the outsole’s tip. Grey suede overlays arrive akin to those found on the Air Max ST from 1992, while the Air Max 3 is mimicked on the pair’s teal green Swoosh. The OG Air Max 95 is honored through hue at the eyelets, while the striking silver-grey at the mudguard and its branding panel appears to tribute the Air Max 97 Silver Bullet. Finally, although there may be more, forefoot mini Swooshes and vibrant slime green in the rear are reminiscent of the Air Max 98 TL. Completing the design is a special set of graphic insoles that come collaged in retro Air Max logos.

Take a scroll through the official images of the Nike Air Max 90 “History of Air” here below, and expect these to release at select retailers and Nike.com later this year — or even early next year — for a price yet to be determined.

In other Air Max 90 news, a love note-adorned edition has appeared ahead of Valentine’s Day.
