As shown in the special-edition Air Force 1 previewed earlier today, Nike has some special releases in store for International Women’s Day 2021. Like that release, this Air Max 90 draws inspiration from — and we quote the official Nike.com blurb — the “Enduring Spirit Of Mexican Women”.
Appearing to be inspired by traditional Central American garb, the pairs are produced in hues of black, maroon, and purple across nubuck, suede, and the Air Max 90’s signature plastic panels. Toe boxes, collars, and mudguards all feature the heritage-inspired graphics and shapes seen on the aforementioned Air Force 1, here in a tonal black glaze. The maroon panels match the semi-translucent outsole in sporting a gritty, glittery finish, all of which are surrounded by a very light lilac at the liner and midsole respectively. Completing the design is the collection’s special-edition tongue tag and insole branding, and a distinctive glitter-garnished dubrae set.
Though they’ve already released in Asia, it’s likely that pairs won’t hit US and EU shelves until early March to coincide with International Women’s Day on the 8th. Until then, enjoy a detailed look at the pair here below, and be sure to keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates
