You can never have too much surplus. That’s Nike’s mentality when it comes to military-inspired releases — a theme that appears on more than one occasion in each calendar year. Perhaps at the forefront of the brand’s mind in recent years thanks to Travis Scott’s drab obsessions, the Swoosh once again returns to a muted militaristic theme for an upcoming Air Max “Surplus Supply” collection featuring the Air Max 95 and Air Max 90.

Here we focus on the latter, which brings heavy influence from famed Undefeated collaborations past. On this release, olives, greys, and blacks link with Nike’s signature orange hues, with a slew of interesting details to fit the mold. Uppers of a flight jacket-like nylon are overlayed by a lightly-tinted olive suede before it meets plush green-olive nubuck on the mudguard. The same textile sits atop the removable tongue shroud, one which comes completed by zippers and army-style texts. Jet black Swooshes, eyelets, and rear overlays provide some fixed focal points up top, as do the sporadic flashes of orange at the forefoot Swoosh, ankle panel, and Air bubble text. Surrounding that is a gunmetal grey cassette, a white midsole, and a translucent grind rubber-flecked outsole tipped with olive rubber accents.

A US release date for this Nike Air Max 90 “Surplus Supply” is yet to be revealed, but with pairs already available at select markets in Asia, you should expect to see a Stateside release soon. If you can’t wait it out, there’s already plenty of pairs available here on eBay.
