If there have been two things evident for the Swoosh over the past 18 months, it’s their unwavering persistence in pushing their popular retro lineage further, as well as their headstrong approach to sustainability. Quite often, the two collide, with countless sustainable retoolings applied to everything from the Air Max 1 to the Uptown. But while their marquee Space Hippie product line is a beast of its own, there’s no concise collection for the retro models — until now. The Nike Terrascape collection will look to overhaul classic trainers with redesigns and renewable materials. Now, after revealing itself in its debut “Pomegranate” colorway, a second option of the AM90 has appeared: the Nike Air Max 90 Terrascape “Fuel Orange”
Material-wise, it’s clear that the pair utilizes a smorgasbord of upcycled products, including Grind Rubber outsoles, Crater Foam midsoles, and uppers of multiple fabrications. Design-wise, the pair arrives with a handful of noticeable retoolings, including wrap-around oversized Swoosh/heel pulls in “Hot Curry”, modified eyestays, an added plastic lateral guard, and semi-translucent TPU midsole casing that shoes of the titular orange hue. The Space Hippie-like Terrascape branding can be spotted at both the front pulls, while the brand’s signature Move to Zero Pinwheel and neon insole arrive inside to complete the design.
