Available Now // “Batman” Nike Air Max 95
Converse isn’t the only sneaker brand to pay tribute to the Caped Crusader in his 80th-anniversary year, with their parent company Nike set to drop a superhero-inspired “Batman” Air Max 95 over the coming weeks.
Unlike their subsidiary brand’s collection, this release is not officially linked to the DC franchise but captures the essence of the Gotham Guardian through its use of color. The combination of grey, black and yellow is aligned to the Bat’s depiction in comics from the late 80s through the 90s, and in every kid’s favorite after school TV show, Batman: The Animated Series. Fittingly, that series ended in 1995, the year in which this Air Max silhouette first graced retailers walls. It pairs an all-black mesh base with cascading profile nubuck overlays in shades of grey, the lightest at the top to black at the bottom. Black nubuck toe caps continue down to an all-black sole unit that houses vibrant yellow Air support systems, with the ankle’s jewel mini Swoosh and insole Nike Air print following suit. 3M reflective hits arrive in the usual spots, and the pair is complete with a Batman-esque tongue logo that’s reminiscent of the Bat-Signal in the Gotham night sky.
In related news, a crispy Obsidian/Red Air Max 95 also dropped today!
