2020’s Nike Air Max 95 BHM Comes With Customizable Covers
The annual celebration of Black History is upon us, and right on cue, Nikehas unveiled the first of many general releases for the month-long recognition. It comes in the form of an Air Max 95, in this, it’s 25th anniversary year. And like the previously-previewed Nike Hoops PE lineup, this pair too looks to 90s street style and African textiles for inspiration.
Somewhat mismatched, yet balanced, the pair’s panels each feature its own unique fabrication — but it’s not mirrored on the other side, instead, the left medial and right lateral pair up, while the opposing left lateral and right medial sport matching makeups. This style of split-blocking was also seen on the recently-pulled Nike Kobe 5 “Big Stage”, so it appears that this is Nike’s new trend moving into 2020.
As for this pair, Red and Blue leather uppers are overlayed by color-popped black lace stays, a translucent-white plastic tear-away material in place of the traditional netting, and overlays in canvas, ripstop and jersey mesh. Toe caps come dressed in suedes, with more of the aforementioned white-translucent tear-away appearing just that— torn away — from both the toe and heel overlays. Underfoot you’ll find a classic white midsole/black rubber outsole combo, and the pair is completed with added tongue pulls, mismatched heel panels and BHM-branded tongues and insoles. It also comes with mismatched customizable shorud overlays and a co-branded sharpie, a-la LeBron Jame’s “MTAA” 17s
Official images have arrived ahead of the pair’s release on February 19th, with stores like Finish Line and Nike.com stocking the drop on the day. If you are planning on picking up a pair, make sure you head on over to out Nike Release Dates Calendar to set yourself a reminder for the drop!
