The great outdoors is a frequent inspiration for the Air Max 95— after all, it was conceived by Sergio Lozano, who was working in Nike’s ACG category during the mid-’90s. Now, in its 25th anniversary year, it once again returns to its ACG influence with a muted black and grey option that’s topped with some ACG-inspired color hits.
Here, a ballistic mesh upper in dark grey is overlayed by black netting, and a quartet of cascading multi-tone overlays in suede, synthetic, and leather. The latter is continued to the toe cap in what becomes the overlay’s darkest shade, before meeting an oh-so-90s speckled midsole underfoot. ACG-like color pops come into play at the orange Air supports, the reinforced eyelets, and tongue liner, as well as a hit of teal green at the ankle Swoosh, and a hint of pink at the rear branding. Completing the design is a crisp white ripstop-like tongue, color-matched liners, and a staple black rubber outsole underfoot.
