Nike Air Max 95 “De Lo Mio” Releasing Again This Month?
The Nike Air Max 95 has been a long-time companion for many — some of us even making it one of the biggest parts of our lives. The Sergio Lozano-designed masterpiece exploded onto the scene 25 years ago, and thanks to its intuitive, anatomical design inspiration, it naturally felt like an extended part of our human body. That camaraderie between design and body is a rare thing. So it’s fitting that this “De Lo Mio” — a term of endearment that represents a sense of personal closeness within the Dominican community — graces the silhouette.
But while the connection between the sneaker and the body has been well-documented, the inspiration behind this pair has not. The official word from Nike has it said that this Air Max 95 ‘De Lo Mío’ pays homage to the sophistication and bravado of the Dominican Republic by meshing premium materials with vibrant design details. The white leather upper panels are offset by iridescent piping and De Lo Mío branding elements, while Volt lace loops and gray nubuck nod to the Air Max 95’s legacy. Ther is, of course, direct shout outs to the nation, with tri-colored tongue branding, along with blue profile Swooshes and red heel hits in reference to their national flag, with the latter the most obvious, reading República Dominicana from left to right.
Even though they are scheduled for May 2nd, 2020 (a couple of days before the DR’s Labour Day celebration) Nike has already popped these up on Nike SNKRS launch calendar.Pairs will be retailing for $180 on the day. Take a look at the official image set below, and if you’re planning on picking up a pair for and your loved ones, make sure you head on over to our Nike Release Dates Calendar to set yourself a reminder notification for the drop!
Update 02.14.20 After releasing way back in early May last year, it appears that Nike will be bringing back the Nike Air Max 95 “De Lo Mio” for a second release in 2021. Though it may have been done in error, a brand new product page has popped up here on Nike.com with a release date for February 27th, 2021.
