It was pretty evident that the first half of 2020 belonged to the Air Max 90 and its 30th-anniversary celebration, but as we edge closer to the end of the calendar, Nike’s other anniversary Air Max is making itself known. The 25-year-old Air Max 95 was seemingly left on ice for the first half of the year, but with the OG Neon reissue just days away and impending collaborations from Dior’s Kim Jones, the wheels are beginning to turn. Now, following a preview of the playful Air Max 95 “Kaomoji” comes something just as whimsical: a multi-color, split-blocked tie-dye-donning drop that’s set for release this Fall.
The overly-bright base is divided into two halves, with the medial and lateral sides both aligning themselves with common colors. The outsides focus on yellows and browns, while the medial choose cooling blues and purples. Thick textile uppers are finished off in tie-dye prints — as are two of its overlaying panels. The lateral side’s middle later is done up in a traditional acid wash, while the medial side opts for a straight royal suede. In the rear, the acid wash print returns again — this time in green and black across both shoes. Everything is toned down at the toe and lower overlay by bone leather pieces, before the pair straightens out at the all-white sole unit. Completing the design is some OG influence, with Neon-popped Air supports, Swoosh branding, and tongue tags tying up the release.
An official release date for the pair is still unknown, but this colorful tie-dye Nike Air Max 95 is likely to sneak into select retailers and Nike.com over the coming weeks.
