Just when you thought you saw the last of Nike’s “First Use” collection, another inclusion appears. The seemingly endless run of Swoosh-celebrating creations is bolstered by this Air Max 96 II “First Use” — a release that focuses heavily on trainers of yesteryear.
Celebrating an anniversary of it’s own (25th) this Air Max 96 II honors fifty years of the Swoosh like most others from the collection, the pair presents with an identification of 1971 as the trademarked date on the insoles, retro tongue tags, and golden Swooshes mounted with a solitary diamond at the laces. More recently, the releases have honed in on typical 70’s runners, with nylons and shaggy suedes the go-to construction. This is no different, with a vibrant green nylon base and bold black suede overlays making a strong statement. Select pops of bright white naturally jump off its dark base, gracing the tongues, 3M reflective detail, and Swoosh outlines. Returning to vintage appeals, the pair rocks an aged-look midsole and heritage black rubber outsole to complete the design.
