Nike’s Air Max series is no stranger too gradients, featuring predominately on the Air Max 95, Air Max Plus — it’s derivative, the VaporMax Plus — and the all-new Air Max 720. Those silhouettes are literally built for seamless color transitions, but an Air Max 98? Hardly.
This new pair challenges that notion through the use of tonal grey overlays to give a great grey gradient effect on it’s upper. With its upper composed of two vague shades of grey, deeper contrast appears from its two overlays arriving in Vast Grey and Atmosphere Grey as we move toward the dark Grey sole unit. The only hint of color coming in Fresh Mint, which strikes the Swooshes, visible Air unit, lacestays, and outsole.
