Nike Air heel branding is synonymous with only a handful of silhouettes; the Air Max 1, Air Max 90 and Air Jordans 3-thru-6. Sure, there are a ton more, but the Air Max 98 definitely isn’t one of them. But this new take on the late-90s classic has brought the retrospective feels to the heels, placing the iconic Nike/Swoosh combo logo prominently in golden embroidery across the lateral heel overlays. The other, traditional branding of the 98 also arrives in embroidered gold across the pair’s smooth white leather base. Royal blue, also embroidered, hits the upper layer, as well as a few quick flashes underfoot, white black plays a big role as the bold contrasting factor, arriving in nubuck across the mudguard, while also hitting the outsole, middle lacestays, liner, and heel pulls. Silver arrives lining the overlay, with a small pop on the heel pulls, and royal blue makes one final appearance in the Air unit to complete the design.
