Buzz City Celebrated.
Motorsport, UNC and the Hornets — three of North Carolina’s most notorious fixations — provide the centerpiece for Nike and Jordan Brand‘s 2019 All-Star collection, with the latter enjoying a new addition in the form on an Air Max 98.
The new Air Max 98 winds back the clock to the 1990s for its inspiration, with the pair heavily influenced by the Hornet’s home uniforms of the period. Decked out in pinstripes, purple, and teal, the colorway has this writer visioning the likes of Dell Curry and Larry Johnson in the good ol’ days. The Swoosh design team couldn’t have made the connection to basketball more obvious, finishing off the design with basketball leather used on the toe-box island overlay.
A release date did not accompany the official images you see below, but you can expect this pair to hit select stores and Nike.com around the NBA All-Star Weekend in two weeks.
