Since its return to the sneaker culture spotlight in early 2018 for its 20th anniversary, Nikehas delt plenty of new and bold makeovers the Air Max 98’s way — but this new LX Women’s release may be the most unique yet. Sure, it’s sporting a simplified color palette of basic black mesh and leather paired with white midsoles, but it’s the overlays that spark the most intrigue. Rocking translucent plastic constructions in place of the typical leather or suede, the overlays encase what appears to be scrapped rubber, similar to that seen on playground floors. the filling is mostly white, with a significant amount of black sprinkled throughout, you’ll also notice little specks of colors throughout, from gold to red to blue and more. Lower, medial, toe and upper eyelet overlays all encase the pebbled pieces, while all-white midsoles and Air unit, and black rubber outsoles complete the design.
