Official Looks at the Nike Air Max Plus 3 Retro
TN3 will be!
That’s right, the overly aggressive and often forgotten Air Max design that is the Air Max Plus 3 will be returning in 2019, kicked off with six colorways, headlined by the OG Black/Blue/Yellow. But it looks like the OG won’t be the first pair to drop, with official images of this Black/Grey rendition hitting Nike servers early this morning.
There were a total of ten Air Max Plus designs, but none could quite stack up against the OG’s visual aesthetic. But Tuned-heads still hold the TN3 as their second favorite silhouette, and it’s easy to see why. Gone are the vertical wavy cage overlays, opting for an aerodynamic aesthetic, one which progressed from the Air Max Plus II’s Air Max 97-like fixtures. And unlike the TN2, which experimented with suedes, the III went back to its roots of mesh, leather, and heavy-handed plastic hits, as well as returning to a similarly-styled sole unit.
Recent Max revivals have suffered a lukewarm reception from purists thanks to incorrect details (like the AM96 with a 95 sole unit – ergh), so it will be interesting to see how Nike approach the retrospective releases — but from these first looks below of the OG Blue, Black and Blue/Green. they look to be a true 1-for-1 replication of the original design! BOOM!
First up is this black-based pair, which, aside from its grey-to-black gradient upper, forefoot mini Swoosh and midsole Tuned Air branding, its a true Triple Black colorway. Release dates for this pair — and the remaining five colorways — are still up in the air, BUT, official images is usually an indication of a very proximal release.
