Over the years, we’ve seen many Air Max icons assume the original duds of its founding father, the Air Max 1 — especially in or around March’s annual Air Max Day celebration. This year that honor goes to the cult-followed Air Max Plus and, though I might be biased as an Australian, this has got to be one of the best interpretations yet.

As you’d expect, the Nike Air Max Plus “Air Max 1” derivers direct inspiration from the OG, from white mesh uppers to light grey cage overlays to sweeping red mudguards. It even boasts black outsoles. Though the colorway is as close as the design allows it to be, the material makeup doesn’t deviate far from a typical TN build. Hex mesh uppers are wrapped with synthetic overlays and customary 3M streaks down the tongues arrive in-line with Tuned releases before it with, unfortunately, no suede in sight.

An official release date for the pair is still unknown, but you should expect to see this Nike Air Max Plus “Air Max 1” to form part of this month’s Air Max festivities. When they do hit shelves, we’ll be sure to keep you posted here on our official Twitter account, but until then, enjoy an official look at the pair here below.

Update 05.26.21 Pairs of the Nike Air Max Plus “Air Max 1” have just landed here on Nike.comand are available now for $160. Go get ’em!
