Sean McDowell's Nike Air Max Plus design from 1998 has inspired a number of modern products from the Swoosh. With summer inching closer, the iconic Tuned Air-cushioned silhouette has emerged in another stealthy ensemble.
To the uninformed, 'Black'-covered pairs of the Tn-branded sneaker have notorious reputations Down Under, just as the similarly-colored Air Force 1 Low does across the U.S. The latest Air Max Plus features a 'Black/Cave Stone' gradient across its upper, which dons palm tree-inspired TPU overlays in a pitch-dark tone. The bulk of the sneaker's sole unit also opts for a covert aesthetic, but profile swooshes interrupt the color scheme with their 'Diffused Blue' makeover.
While not vibrant, the blue tone animates McDowell's design enough to differentiate the unreleased pair from those with nefarious associations. Silhouette-specific branding on the tongue and heel also deviate from their stealthy surroundings, while the Tuned Air unit at the heel boasts the reserved 'Diffused Blue' color. Together, each aforementioned component helps expand the shoe's legacy in the modern age.
Enjoy official photos of the Air Max Plus below, and expect pairs to hit Nike.com by July for $180.
For more from the Tuned Air family, a 'Black' Air Max Plus VII is rumored to release throughout the holiday season.
