The Nike Air Max Plus continues to bask in the limelight of its 25th anniversary in 2023 — but while we're still waiting for an elusive OG retro, there are plenty of heritage-fuelled releases in the works.

With original “Hyper Blue” and "Voltage Purple" coming soon, the 1998 masterpiece by Sean McDowell forges ahead, charting new chromatic territories. The latest endeavor adorns the sneaker's foundational mesh layer with a spectrum akin to a rainbow's embrace. It initiates with a deep purple at the fore, morphing majestically to a spirited orange across the mid-foot, and culminates in a tropical fusion of yellow and green enwrapping the heel. In concert, the auxiliary elements of the Air Max Plus maintain a more subdued aesthetic, employing a stark black to juxtapose against the vibrant, titular gradient.

The sole, a testament to McDowell’s innovative journey - once a Foot Locker exclusive - remains unpretentious in its color choices. The forefront Air Max capsules adopt a shadowy demeanor, while the heel's Tuned Air element is bathed in a profound blue, accented with hints of citrus on its inner facet. The encasing midsole material basks in pristine whiteness, although the outsoles, paying homage to Nike's running legacy, opt for a black rendition. Traditional “Tn Air” insignias hold court amidst the sole's architecture, featuring an orange, green, and yellow amalgam that breathes life into the segments beneath the Tuned Air cushioning.

This new Nike Air Max Plus is slated for a release on Nike.com on December 11.
