After a blistering start, the Nike Air Max Scorpion has followed other recent Air Max models in laying low after its debut. But as the calendar has turned over to 2023, the audacious, bulbous-Air sneaker is seeing some sort of a resurgence. With incoming in-line colorways plentiful, it’s recently found itself at the center of the brand’s Chinese New Year celebrations — and now part of the brand’s annual celebration of Air, with first looks at an impending Nike Air Max Scorpion “Air Max Day” appearing online today.

Welcoming back the famous multi-color weave made famous by Nike’s Flyknit series, the pair is supported by bright white chenille, cloud-shaped Swooshes, and colorful illustrated insoles. The latter features several shoutouts to March 26th (Air Max Day) in text bubbles and other whimsical drawings. Back on the exterior, a milky sole unit sits below the aforementioned upper, with flashes of volt and pink at the mid foot shank added to balance out the brightness resting above.
