Air Max “The Future is in the Air” Collection is Coming Soon

The Air Max lineage has been privy to some pretty clean collections over the years, the next of which adds an elegant, peaceful touch to a handful of Nike’s staples. The pack, titled “The Future is in the Air” serves a double entendre; firstly, Nike’s ever-present tech will undoubtedly remain at the forefront of their future endeavors; Secondly, a lesson that 2020 has taught us in spades is that the future really is up in the air, as to its uncertainty. Though that message is a bit of a buzzkill, it’s also somewhat of a reminder to enjoy the here and now — and right now, right here, we’ve got a look at three options heading your way from Nike.

Inspired by Kǒngmíng lanterns (sky lanterns), the white and sail-based options of the Air Max 90, Air Max 97, and Air Max 270 React all feature hues of red, pink, and blue that mimic the gradient effect of a lit lantern in the night sky. This is easily depicted best on the Air Max 97, which features an ombre finish on the mesh uppers and mudguards from toe to tail, while all three options feature the finish inside their respective Air units. Black rubber outsoles (and overlays on the AM270 React) undoubtedly honor the pitch-black skies in which the lanterns fly, while the pack’s title features asymmetrically throughout — all on the respective left foot.

Though the US and global release dates are not confirmed, pairs are already available throughout Asia, indicating that a release should follow shortly. If you can’t wait it out, you can already find pairs available on eBayat the links provided below.
