    Through the unfathomable leaps and bounds that Nike Basketball has attained in performance technology, its roots — whatever the silhouette — can be traced back to one sneaker: the Nike Blazer. Originally released back in 1973, the sneaker named after Phil Knight’s local NBA franchise was the go-to option for hoopers the world over, be it NBA icons or weekend warriors at the local rec club. Now, after appearing in a handful of NBA-branded options, Nike look to celebrate the latter category of ballers with this special-edition Nike Blazer Mid “Athletic Club”

    Though its blocking and hues are something oft-seen, the pair presents an entirely new construct, with crepe uppers of yellow adding a retro texture throughout the entire upper. It’s set against striking teal green Swooshes, and, in case you needed reminding, “Blazer” glazed just below onto the lateral heel. Its bone suede overlays at the forefoot and heel, and its sail sole unit remain unchanged, there are select embellishments that give the pair its defining theme; Retro-inspired Nike Athletic Club tongue tags and insoles are reminiscent of the model’s era, with special suede heels and sew-on patches furthering the pair’s heritage feel.
