Nike’s upcoming Space Hippie initiative is carrying the torch for the brand’s focus on future sustainability, and a big part of that is at the literal base of it all: Crater Foam. The coarse rubber is made with a blend of standard Nike foams and (at least) 15 percent recycled Nike Grind Rubber. It’s the latter’s granules that create a multi-colored finish, unlike anything we’ve seen before. Now, after surfacing on the sole of the Air Force 1, the sustainable finish is applied to Nike’s original hoop shoe, the Nike Blazer.
The key material is equipped only at the heel and tongue tag — but it makes a bold statement against the pair’s all-white construction. IT’s all-white tumbled leather build is as vintage as it gets, and it matched underfoot by a white-on-white vulcanized sole unit. Striking “University Gold” Swooshes jump off the white upper, whilst a piercing orange arrives across the pair’s remaining branding hits.
A release for the Nike Blazer Mid 77 “Crater” is yet to be announced, so until further details arrive take a look through the official images below before heading over to our dedicated Nike page for all things that go Swoosh.
