Through the unfathomable leaps and bounds that Nike Basketball has attained in performance technology, its roots — whatever the silhouette — can be traced back to one sneaker: the Nike Blazer. Originally released back in 1973, the sneaker named after Phil Knight’s local NBA franchise was the go-to option for hoopers the world over, but like many basketball-specific sneakers from that era, it has since hit the streets. If you know about the sneaker’s design and marketing origins, you’ll recognize that the sneaker is testament to the brand’s “Just Do It” mentality — and now Nike is reminding you of that in a literal sense with this all-new Nike Blazer Mid “Just Do It”
Clad in its signature white leather, the pair presents with other staple finishes like bone suede overlays at the forefoot, exposed-foam tongues, and sail midsole wraps. It’s jazzed-up by the titular slogan emblazoned on the lateral heel, as well as dual-layered red and white Swooshes, and debossed green Nike text in the rear. The design is then completed by matching green herringbone tread underfoot, and color-matched tongue and insole branding.
