Nike Blazer Mid “Gamer” Celebrates the History of Video Games

Nike is leveling-up its iconic Blazer silhouette with a gamer-themed release that’s already amassing widespread adoration. The Nike Blazer Mid “Gamer” pairs retro 8-bit pixelation with Modern Warfare headset-wearing motifs for a then-and-now story that brides the history and future of gaming. So it’s fitting that this story is told on the Nike Blazer, a silhouette that, like gaming, started from humble beginnings and is now a mainstream staple. Classic elements like white leather construction and exposed foam tongues work in-hand with the pixelated Swoosh fr retro appeal, whilst modern inclusions like patent leather forefoot and eyelet overlays, and colorful gradient midsoles match the modern era’s obsession with colorful kicks — there’s even a glow-in-the-dark Nike print all over the upper. The rear panel is done up in Velcro, providing a base for removable patches, whilst tongues are finished off in an iridescent TPU plastic. Finishing off the design is the pair’s most obvious callout to gamers; a lateral imprint that reads “Have a Good Game” — a twist on Nike’s infamous “Have a Nike Day” series of adverts from the 1980s.

Grab a detailed look at the pair here below, and expect to see these land at select Swoosh retailers and Nike.com this Fall. As always, keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.
