Nike’s Move to Zero initiative has led their footwear designers to explore some unique avenues of inspiration, from the well-documented Space Hippie lineage to the incorporation of Grind Rubber to their releases. Sometimes, we even get a complete textile overhaul, like this crochet-constructed Nike Blazer Mid “Hemp” that doesn’t distance itself too far from grandma’s tea cozy collection.
In place of the silhouette’s signature leather upper and suede overlays, this pair presents with a completely knitted upper, mostly of off-white yarn. There are deviations in hue, including yellow forefoot overlays and red rear panels — the latter tacked on in home-style stitching — both of which are joined by muted green upper eyelets and bright blue glazed Swoosh overlays. The pair is completed by Hemp=branded tongue tags, and Nike’s now-signature volt insoles complete with the Move to Zero Pinwheel motif.
