Outside of a marquee collaboration with Sacai, the Nike Cortez didn’t live up to its full potential in 2022 amidst its 50th-anniversary celebration, Perhaps due in part to logistical delays. Still to come is the CLOT x Nike Cortez collection, and a handful of GR drops like this new Nike Cortez ’23 “Velvet Brown”
Forgoing a traditional white leather construct, the pair opts for an all-out assault in chocolate hues, with dark “Baroque Brown” uppers and “Velvet Brown” overlays — both of shaggy, supple suede. Pops of black arrive in support, with leather liners, nylon tongues, laces, and leather Swooshes all featuring the hue. Lastly, black rubber sole units — wedged with brown in the back — round out the design.
Though a release date for this new Nike Cortez ’23 “Velvet Brown” has not yet been revealed, the appearance of official imagery for the pair would indicate that a release is happening soon.
