Following a tumultuous legal dispute with Onitsuka Tiger in 1971, Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman chose to shift their focus from their Blue Ribbon Sports importing and retail business to a brand new production model. Nike was born. It would be 1972 when the Swoosh and branding would be officially trademarked, but May 30, 1971 is penciled in as the first official date of operations.
Although 52 years might not be considered a significant milestone, Nike is commemorating the occasion with style. The brand is set to launch the new Nike Dunk Low "52" as a tribute to its 52nd anniversary. This special release will be accompanied by a selection of Nike Sportswear designs, such as the recently unveiled Vomero 5 and an alternate blue-rendered Dunk Low of the same name.
Following the theme set forth on the aforementioned Dunk, this pair preferred one-color accents — here on pastel pink — gracing the tongue tags, laces, lateral TPU Swoosh overlays, and semi-translucent rubber outsole. These accents are elegantly set against a pristine white base, light grey leather overlays, and a cooler blue shade on the medial plastic Swoosh. The sneakers also come with an additional set of grey laces.
As of now, details on the release have not been announced, but we'll likely receive more information soon. Stay tuned for further updates, and keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.
