Kevin Durant’s fourteenth signature sneaker has been officially unveiled. Fourteen. Sheesh.
It feels like the last handful of KD silhouettes have come and gone quicker than a coast-to-coast transition. Coming off the back of a non-court KD 12, and a shorted COVID KD 13, the Nike KD 14 is a case of third-time lucky for the Brooklyn Net superstar. This year’s effort is an intriguing one, a sneaker that appears to pull inspiration from far and wide.
Aesthetically, it’s reminiscent of early PG Nike designs and features a full-length Zoom Air strobile to boot. Durant also pulls in cues from his teammate and fellow Swoosh athlete Kyrie Irving, with heel panels channeling the long-running Kyrie series. KD also looks to his own back catalog with midfoot lockdown straps reminiscent of the KD 4 and 7, all whilst honoring the Air Presto caging on the medial side. Elsewhere, the pair features a dual-layered upper, with a textured and translucent sheath overlaying a patterned upper — again akin to the Kyrie series.
Currently, Foot Locker notes an April 17th release date for the debut pair, but there have already been several other, more vibrant colorways appearing by-way-of social media, so if you’re after something a little more daring than this first-up black and white-based release, we’re certain that you won’t have to wait too long.
In other Nike Hoops news, the LeBron 18 “What The” has been confirmed for April 10th.
