Kevin Durant may be approaching the conclusion of his professional NBA career, but the Washington D.C. native continues to produce compelling signature models with his Nike Basketball family.
The retro cycle of the Nike KD series continues to revisit fan-favorites from the early 2010s, but the current KD 18 keeps demanding attention via its slew of vibrant, sometimes story-driven, makeovers. The latest "Vivid Purple/Black/Hyper Pink" offering hasn't been confirmed to be a play on the "Eggplant" Air Foamposite One from 2009, but the connection would make sense given the DMV area's love for the rugged basketball shoe; the KD 18's design team has gone on record to share that the silhouette was inspired by several models with special consideration from folks who grew up similar to Durant. The "International Blue" KD 18 honors retro Nike Basketball heritage, too.
A glossy Foamposite-reminiscent material covers the bulk of of latest Nike Basketball product, with "Vivid Purple" claiming real estate from forefoot to hind-foot. Mesh panels visible at the toe and along the profiles indulge in a gradient pink that helps the sneaker pop.
Firm Nike.com release details haven't been disclosed by the brand as of yet, but that's expected to change soon. In the meantime, enjoy official photos of the KD 18 ahead.
